As a child, Theodore’s relationship with the spirit world was natural and effortless. As he became an adult, he began to realize that this ease of relating was alien to most people. In fact, there appeared a total disconnect, not only to the spirit world but also to the mundane world around them. To Theodore, this was a great tragedy. As he questioned what prevents others from seeing both worlds, he saw that it was our conditioning, our wounds, and our brokenness and yet within this suffering was an innate longing for connection to spirit and healing.

Stepping Up to the Plate with Mind, Body and Spirit

The thing about me is this: I have a hard time controlling my own mind. That sounds ridiculous, I know. Who else has control of her mind, after all, if not the person providing the comfortable, well-appointed skull that contains it? I remember being quite haunted by this reality when I was a kid. I remember letting wicked, terrible thoughts creep into my brain (my parents dying if I didn't clean the kitchen; the house burning down if I was careless with money; fiercely believing that just because I thought something was true, it must be), and then freaking out at my apparent inability to keep a lid on my world.

Quiet places for meditation downtown

Hi - Great work on the new website and thanks for adding these forums and blogs!

I work downtown (around the Eaton Centre) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for places to meditate during lunch hour. I already have a meditation community and practice so I'm not really looking for something to join, but just a quiet place indoors where I can meditate comfortably for an hour at lunch and not feel self-conscious about it.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Open your heart to invite Happiness

Being happy and content with your life is an amazing experience. But unfortunately most of people fail to experience such feeling in their lives. I personally come across such feeling when I am able to give my 100% in some task. The best way to bring in happiness in your life is by opening the window of your heart. This requires you to close the window of your brain through which problems and annoying thoughts enter your mind.

How did you choose your meditation path?

Hi All,

I was wondering how other people came to settle upon a certain style or tradition of meditation? I practised zen for many years but more recently I have been practicing "lovingkindness" meditations.

Were you drawn to a particular tradition or style, or did you explore before deciding to dedicate yourself to a practice?

Greetings, I'm looking for a Sangha.

Hello,

I've recently relocated to Toronto from a small town, and just found this website a couple weeks ago. I loved the info at my fingertips about Toronto's meditation groups. I really like the new design of the website, and I'm looking forward to seeing the content fill up. I'm also looking forward to reading some blogs.

Emergency Room Meditation

So I'm sitting in a hospital waiting room yesterday, stroking my son's sallow cheeks, fuming over all manner of bureaucratic inefficiencies, raging against the particular tumbling of events that has brought us to this place, when I notice a man beside me in a pool of serenity.
