Handling Criticalness and Judgement- a contemplation

Most of us have had the experience of being bothered, irked or irritated by someone's behaviour. It's a common experience in life to get judgemental of others.

In fact, in some cultural niches of our society, the witty criticalness of others is admired.

As an example, when I was in the theatre I remember the usual practice in one troupe was to gather in a bar after a show and spend a good deal of time in a game of one up-man-ship in judging others.

Sometimes lunch-time conversations in many businesses become a breeding ground for criticalness of bosses or other employees. It can become a major contributor of stress and low moral at work....

Protection from Fear - Day Course on going for refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha

Buddhist refuge day course and refuge vow ceremony with KMCC Resident Teacher, Gen Kelsang Thekchen. March 20th from 10am - 5:30pm. Gen Thekchen will offer an explanation of how to go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. He will explain how to generate the two main causes of refuge: fear of the sufferings of samsara, and faith in the 3 Jewels. At the end of the day course, Gen Thekchen will offer, for those who wish, a refuge ceremony where we take our refuge vows and become a Buddhist.

Learn the basics of Buddhism in this half-day course from 10am - 1pm with Buddhist nun, Kelsang Rigden. Rigden was the Resident Teacher at Tara Buddhist Centre in Barbados. She is now living and studying at KMCC here in Toronto. Rigden will explain who Buddha was and why his teachings are so important and relevant in this modern world. Basic Buddhist topics will be explained such as past and future lives, karma, samsara and Enlightenment.
