We are a Kadampa Buddhist Centre that offers classes in meditation and Buddhism that are available to everyone. Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school that was founded by the great Indian Buddhist master Atisha and was introduced into the west by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1977.

We offer an introductory program, at four locations, that gives a broad introduction into Buddhist meditation, ideas and practice. We also offer a more in-depth study program, daily prayers and regular retreats.

Biography

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism. He is the author of 19 highly acclaimed books on Buddhism and the founder of over 700 Kadampa Buddhist Centres worldwide.

    There is mention of 4 different locations, centres. I wonder if you could tell me where the other three are. I don’t drive, live in Bowmanville, and it seems any meditation centres I find are located in Toronto or somewhere else I cannot easily reach.

    Hi there
    Robbie, there are a few Kadampa Buddhist centres in the toronto area - in the Beaches and in the Annex area. Also in Belleville and Kingston.
    But I thought I’d let you know of a retreat the centre is holding near Cobourg May 16-19th. It is at a beautiful and quiet retreat centre called Northumberland Heights.
