We are a Kadampa Buddhist Centre that offers classes in meditation and Buddhism that are available to everyone. Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist school that was founded by the great Indian Buddhist master Atisha and was introduced into the west by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1977.

Lineage

Kadampa Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhist tradition founded by the great Indian Buddhist master Atisha and was introduced to the West by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1977. Tibetan lineage teachers include Je Tsongkapa, Pabongkapa, Trijang Dorjechang to name a few.

Activities

We offer an introductory program that gives a broad introduction into Buddhist meditation, ideas and practice. We also offer a more in-depth study program, daily prayers, workshops and regular retreats.

Biography

Founder: Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Born in Tibet and resident in the West since 1977, Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso is a fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism. Primarily responsible for the worldwide revival of Kadampa Buddhism in our time, he has published a series of remarkable books on Buddhist thought and meditation.

Resident Teacher:Kelsang Sangdrub
Kelsang Sangdrub met the Kadam Dharma in the fall of 1994 and shortly thereafter received teachings from Venerable Geshe-la during his visit to Toronto that year. Since that time he has received teachings from many other senior practitioners and participated in numerous festivals, retreats, workshops and study programs.
