Buddhism and Science Lectures
PETER MALINOWSKI took refuge in Diamond Way Buddhism of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in 1990 with Shamar Rinpoche and started teaching internationally in in 1994. In 2001 he moved from Germany to the UK and is now working as a senior lecturer (associate professor) in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience in Liverpool. In most of his work he focuses on the psychological and physiological effects of (buddhist) meditation practice. These lectures will focus on how to understand the relationship between the Western science of mind and brain with the Tibetan understanding of mind. Then they will look at how Buddhist meditation affects both the physiological and the psychological dimensions of the mind. Finally, they will look at practical applications of the Buddhist teachings on mind and meditation.
There will be two lectures, at 8 p.m. each night on June 23rd and 24th.
